It can actually be quite interesting. Especially when you've created the tint or tone of color yourself. Three different results may occur when drying: it appears the way you wanted it to be displayed, the intended shade turns out a lot better than you expected so the entire composition is absolutely beautiful that it needs no words to describe it, or... there is a one of three chance that the medium may become a horrible pigment which then ruins the whole piece. Any route it goes. The paint is undo-able. There is no way of taking one step back, you can only work with how it turned out. Sometimes if you have enough time you can take a bucket of gesso and splash it all over the piece, making it a blank canvas again. Start all over.
