WHERE IS THE SNOW?!:
The news said on Monday night that it was going to snow throughout the week, I woke up Tuesday morning hoping for a snow day because it really was snowing bad the night before. Sadly, there was school =( AND Monday night was the ONLY night it snowed! Can you say the News people lied?! It's not the first time either! I swear I predict the weather better than they do sometimes! You just can listen to the media, no matter what channel whether it's a T.V show or the news, you just can't believe their shit! We're all aware of the kinds of propaganda on programs BUT have you ever paid close and I mean REAL close attention to the News? Do it next time, maybe it'll take a while for you to catch on but they put a little sprinkle of foolishness on their facts too.
- Black person dies: it's cause of gangs or drugs.
- White person dies: they were a victim, or committed suicide due to 'horrible emotional abuse'.
- Sexual predators? Black or some sort of Spanish. Not to mention OLD
- If the cause of death of a white or Asian really is cause the victim partook in criminal activities they would either broadcast it as CAUSE OF DEATH/MOTIVE UNKNOWN or they won't release any identification.
I can rant on and on but let's not. This is why I want to major and then work in the media. Call me foolish, a pioneer or whatever. I guess I'm a little girl with a big dream that won't come true. I'm not saying I hate the media because I don't, it entertains and provides us an escape from reality--teaches and gives us perspective (good and bad). It's like I'm an undercover agent on a mission. I want to alter the perception and mentality of societies through media into a more positive manner. That's pretty fucking impossible but if I'm able to at least have my own little column in a magazine that people actually read and it change's their look on life. That's good enough for me. It doesn't have to be owning a huge channel or a show because I know not many will tune in. Face it, humans don't focus on positive things, that's why we always reflect back to pessimistic moments. Why do I feel like even if I do end up working in the media, I won't get to where I desire and will end up working in a place I hate, trapped in a prison full of lies.
Well worded and totally agree what your arguments. Although we live in a multicultural community, racism and prejudice will occur anywhere even in the media. Media these days don't have much morals and they will expense anything to make money or achieve high rating. Its the mainstream, the media push these type of things to the society. So now to society, someone dying from gang violent and addiction or Britney spears caught not wearing under garments are more appealing then a story on a everyday hero. Sadly thats what we live with these days, even reality shows are now base on stupid violence, for example. jersey shore. And the funny thing is we like that sort of stuff, its sad and true. Its great your trying to break free and change a media, dream big.
